Synopsis
These notes form a natural partner to TN39, We've got news for you! They relate to the idea of giving NEWS to your congregation rather than just information. There are three parts.
Get into NEWS-mode:
- think news
- learn news
- understand news.
Learn how to tell STORIES:
- headline in print
- strong adjectives
- right tone if spoken, etc.
Introduce regular FEATURES:
- births, marriages, deaths
- exam successes, work promotions
- small group news
The notes then cover a worked example: turning the output of a Church Council meeting into a news item, in both print (as a contrast to the normal 'minutes' approach) and interview format.
